I have always been fascinated with human behavior and the power the mind has on an individual’s thoughts and actions. The brain is considered the powerhouse of the body, it is what empowers us towards goals or can oppress us from reaching our full potential. A healthy mind starts with a healthy body and lifestyle.
I appreciate all individuals for who they are and where they come from. Taking a holistic, patient-centered approach allows me to build strong connections with patients. I encourage patients to advocate for themselves and collectively aid me to develop treatment options that will make them feel both understood and motivated towards their own change and healing. I developed a passion for mental health while working as an RN in corrections and inpatient/outpatient psychiatric centers. I have worked in primary care as a Family Nurse Practitioner which piqued my interest more due to the amount of mental health care I was treating at a primary level. This encouraged me to also pursue a certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I enjoy working with all ages and all different mental/behavioral health issues/disorders. Having family members that are first responders and military I have experience in working with the trauma/PTSD that can affect this population and their families.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family traveling and hiking. I relish in fitness and try to work out daily for my own mental and physical health. When I am not working or exercising, I love to read and bake, I find both very relaxing.
