Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Collaborative Counseling and Psychiatry is making online therapy and medication management sessions available for clients. An online session (also known as teletherapy and video therapy) is similar to an office visit, only instead of traveling to see your doctor or therapist, you video conference with them from your home. Whether you are dealing with feelings of stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health issues related to or unrelated to the coronavirus, we can help. Our online mental health counseling service allows you to get the help you need without endangering your health.
Online Counseling Sessions
This is a challenging time for all of us … We are now offering online therapy sessions so that everyone can receive the important mental health services they need without endangering their physical health in the process.
At this time, we are using a HIPAA compliant platform to provide online psychotherapy sessions. All you need is an internet connection and a private place in your home to participate in online counseling.
How Can I Schedule an Online Therapy Session?
Please call our office at 847-440-2281 or fill out our contact form. Our office will call you to setup the first online therapy session.
How do I prepare for my telehealth appointment?
We recommend that you enter your provider’s Doxy waiting room 5 minutes in advance so that your session can start on time. In order to get the most out of your appointments, we highly recommend the following:
- Find a private space where you won’t be disturbed (separate room, car, etc.)
- Test your microphone
- Test your video
- Check for background noise/distractions and take measures to reduce them (other humans, pets, outside noise)
What is NOT appropriate for Telehealth?
Telehealth is not appropriate for emergencies. If you have an emergency, please dial 911.
Is Online Therapy Covered by Insurance?
Insurance companies are rapidly making changes to their policies to allow coverage and reimbursement of telehealth services. It is our understanding at this time that most, if not all, private carriers are expanding their coverage of on-line therapy and medication management services. However, Collaborative Counseling and Psychiatry strongly encourage you to check with your carrier to learn about your specific healthcare benefits regarding telehealth.
